HeadKandy: Beyond the Chair
A reality series following Janine and John, the owners of HeadKandy, and their staff as they navigate the day-to-day life of the salon.
We are in the final stages of post-production on HeadKandy: Beyond the Chair. The series sits inside one of the region’s busiest salons, where hair replacement, wigs and high-level skincare sit alongside blow-dries, banter and a constantly ringing appointment book.
We decided to make the series because we were fascinated not only by the level of expertise inside HeadKandy, but by the people themselves — funny, warm, complicated and, most importantly, real.

Grangetown Netball Club
A feature documentary following one of England’s highest-ranked club netball teams and the community behind it.
The senior performance squad competes in England Netball Premier 1 — the highest national club division — and finished 5th in the country this season, with players connected to England, Wales, Jamaica and the USA.

Tony: The Paratrooper Who Was Almost Deported
One man’s journey from Jamaica to Britain. Three tours of duty. A lifetime of service. And a fight to remain in the country he called home.
Conroy Anthony Downie — known to everyone as Tony — came to England from Jamaica aged 16 and went on to serve as a paratrooper in the British Army, including three tours of Northern Ireland.
Years later, the country he had served would question whether he had the right to remain in it. His story — one of service, hardship, family and belonging, part of the wider Windrush generation — is also the story of our founder Carl Wilson-Downie’s father.

I Miss Mam
The second edition of films from the students of our Film Club, selected by the Tees Valley International Film Festival as Best Smartphone Films.
Written and directed by the students themselves, I Miss Mam represents the power of young voices, the importance of creative opportunities, and the impact of giving emerging filmmakers the confidence and platform to share their stories.
We are incredibly proud and honoured to showcase their work, celebrate their achievement, and support the next generation of filmmakers.
