Who we are

Development, production and post, under one roof

Smoggie Bloom is a Teesside-based film company with lofty ambitions and a passion for telling authentic stories from the people and communities around us. We work end to end — development, production and post — so an idea can go from a conversation in Middlesbrough to a finished film without ever leaving our hands.

Smoggie Bloom has already completed a number of projects, including A Mother's Legacy, Who Wins and Sleepless Night.

Middlesbrough at the heart of a filmmaking region

We believe in the power of creativity and its ability to inspire, entertain, and transform. Our vision is to establish the North East of England as a recognised home for filmmaking, with Middlesbrough at its heart. By making work here, with local crew and local performers, we raise the profile of the region and prove these stories deserve a national audience.

Smoggie Bloom is committed to bridging the gap between grassroots and professional filmmaking, giving the people we work with the tools, connections and support they need to grow. We take pride in a hands-on approach, staying close to every stage of a production from the first draft through to delivery.

Films made by hand, not by template

We value authenticity, integrity and craft. Every project starts with the story and the people in it, not a format — which is why our films carry real accents, real places and real stakes. We combine a deep understanding of production with a genuine love of the region we film in.

Because development, shooting and post all sit under one roof, we can move quickly and keep quality high. That means tight, well-organised shoots, clear communication with cast and crew, and finished work we are proud to put our name to.
